What Is a Natural Oil Blend?

A natural oil blend is a mix of two or more plant oils in one bottle. People use one on skin or hair in place of several separate products.

Why blend oils at all?

Every plant oil has its own texture. Castor oil is thick and glossy. Jojoba feels light and silky. Avocado oil feels rich. One oil gives you one texture, while a blend lets you balance several, so the result spreads easily and still feels nourishing.

Plant oils and essential oils are different things

Argan, jojoba and sweet almond oils are plant oils, pressed from seeds, nuts or kernels. You can use them in generous amounts. Essential oils are concentrated aromatic extracts, used in tiny amounts for scent. A natural oil blend does not need them, and SEVN has no fragrance added.

How to read the label

  • Read the ingredient list, not just the front of the bottle. Ingredients appear in descending order.
  • Look for parfum if you want to know whether fragrance has been added.
  • Look for paraffinum liquidum or dimethicone if you want plant oils only.
  • Look for tree-nut oils such as sweet almond and macadamia if you have a nut allergy.

How to use a natural oil blend

Use a small amount on damp skin after bathing, or on the mid-lengths and ends of your hair. A little goes further than you might expect. The SEVN ritual gives exact amounts for hair, face and body.

How to store it

Keep plant oils closed and away from heat and direct sunlight. Amber glass helps protect them from light.

The SEVN blend

SEVN Signature Nourishing Oil blends seven plant oils: argan, castor, jojoba, rosehip, avocado, sweet almond and macadamia. Nothing else is added. It contains tree nuts, so do not use it if you have a nut allergy.
